Minnesota Continuation Compliance
Minnesota Continuation Law (62 A,16,62A.17) applies to all employers with Minnesota locations employing Minnesota residents, that have fully insured medical, dental or life plans.
Unlike Federal COBRA, where employers with less than 20 employees are not required to comply, Minnesota requires all employers with at least one employee to comply.
Another unique feature of Minnesota is life insurance is to be offered to terminated employees. Minnesota is the only state that requires this additional burden upon the employer. Dependent life insurance is also a requirement to be offered.
